U.S. Army Garrison Alaska, Fort Greely Child and Youth Services hosted the annual Back to School Bash, plus an indoor field day for children at the Physical Readiness Training Facility, Friday August 6.

Through the generosity of various organizations, including U.S. Army Garrison Alaska Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation and United Service Organizations, more than 100 students were able to pick out a backpack full of school supplies. They also enjoyed multiple fun athletic activities at the PRTF thanks to volunteers, garrison directorates, mission partners, and CYS employees.

“It is so nice to see our children getting some exercise through fun activities and getting ready for the upcoming school year,” said Fort Greely Garrison Commander Lt. Col. Joey Orr. “We’re honored these organizations see value in our Army community and our children.”

The Fort Greely CYS program strives to collaborate with all post directorates and mission partners to provide high-quality programming and parent-involvement activities.
