Schaumburg, Ill. – U.S. Army Reserve Maj. Scott D. Hager, along with the 85th U.S. Army Reserve Support Command color guard team, participated in pre-game activities before the start of a Memorial Day Frontier League baseball game between the Schaumburg Boomers and the Gateway Grizzlies, at Wintrust Field, May 31, 2021, in Schaumburg, Illinois.

Hager, who serves as the company commander for the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 85th USARSC since August 2019, threw out a ceremonial first pitch to commence the game.

“It was an honor to represent those of us currently serving in the 85th Army Reserve Support Command, and to honor those who served before us this Memorial Day,” said Hager.

Hager is a veteran Soldier with 17 years of service. He deployed as the commander of the HHC, 96th Military Police Battalion, and lead instructor for the Afghan National Army Officer and Senior Non-commissioned Officer Leadership course in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from 2010-2011 at Camp Sabalu-Harrison, in Parwan Province, Afghanistan.

Hager received a standing ovation from a cheering crowd of approximately 500 spectators; He additionally briefly met Coop, the mascot of the Schaumburg Boomers baseball team.

Immediately following the first pitch, the 85th USARSC color guard took the field to present the Nation’s colors during the playing of the National Anthem.

The Gateway Grizzlies beat the Schaumburg Boomers with a final score of 6 to 5.
