PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY, Calif. – PoM Chief of Housing, Oscar Ordonez, received recognition today for his service and dedication to ensuring the highest quality of life is maintained for all residents within PoM Army Housing. Garrison Commander, Col. Varman Chhoeung presented Ordonez with the Army Civilian Service Commendation Medal and recognized him for his exemplary commitment to the Presidio of Monterey.

“Oscar is a humble leader and truly an unsung hero at the housing division,” Chhoeung said. “I want to recognize him for his selfless service and dedication to improving the lives of our residents.”

A Residential Communities Initiative (RCI) housing satisfaction survey released on April 16, 2021 reflected significant improvements in resident satisfaction with PoM housing. The survey showed a 5.1% increase in overall satisfaction score from 2019 to 2020 in addition to improved satisfaction in responsiveness and follow-through (up to 71.0% from 63.6%) and renewal intention (up to 74.6% from 62.7%).

Chhoeung associated the resident satisfaction survey improvements to the positive command climate that Ordonez has established within the PoM Army Housing Office.

“The improvements to housing do not happen without a supporting staff who are as engaged and caring as the housing staff is here at POM. Their level of customer service and care is a direct reflection of Oscar’s leadership within the division.”

The PoM Army Housing Office is committed to providing a safe and secure environment to the members of the PoM community including Ord Military Community, La Mesa and the Presidio.
