Each February, the U.S. Army reflects upon and celebrates the tremendous contributions of African Americans as part of Black History Month. This year, Army G-4 commemorated Black History Month by recognizing African American logisticians who were the first to achieve a specific rank or receive a major recognition. On each Friday this month, Army G-4 recognized one such Soldier and did so with the intent of representing each of the Army’s professional tracks by the month's end.
What follows are Soldiers recognized by Army G-4 in February 2021:
- LTG (R) Arthur Gregg - the first African-American three-star general in the Army and Deputy Chief of Staff of Army G-4 (click here to see Army G-4's entire recognition of LTG (R) Gregg).
- SGM (R) Eric W. Fullfold - the first African American Sergeant Major to Army G-4 (click here to see Army G-4's entire recognition of SGM (R) Fullford).
- CW5 (R) Cheryl Monroe - the first African-American female Chief Warrant Officer 5 in the ammunition field (click here to see Army G-4's entire recognition of CW5 (R) Monroe).
- PVT George Watson - the first African American logistician in the Army to receive the Medal of Honor (click here to see Army G-4's entire recognition of PVT Watson).
