Sergeant Major Roy W. Sullivan Jr. assumed his duties as the first Sergeant Major of PEO Aviation June 1, 2018.

Previously he served as MSC CSM for the 59th Aviation Troop Command from June 2010 to 1 May 2018. The 59th Aviation Troop Command is a South Carolina Army National Guard Brigade located on McEntire Joint National Guard Base in Eastover, South Carolina.

SGM Sullivan began his service when he enlisted into the United States Army as a 67Y (AH-1) Attack Helicopter Repairer. He entered the Army in June 1984, and attended Basic Combat Training at Fort McClellan, Alabama followed by Advance Individual Training at Fort Eustis, Virginia. He remained on active duty for three years, to include two and a half years in the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) before joining the South Carolina Army National Guard.

SGM Sullivan joined the SCARNG on 27 October 1987 as an AH-64A Attack Helicopter Repairman with the 1-151st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion. SGM Sullivan served in numerous leadership positions to include: Flight Company Section Sergeant, B CO / 1-151st ARB; Aircraft Maintenance Section Sergeant and Maintenance Platoon Sergeant for D CO / 1-151st ARB; First Sergeant for both D CO / 1-151st ARB and L CO (AVIM) / 1-151st ARB; Command Sergeant Major for 1-151st ARB. His Military Education includes: AH-1 Attack Helicopter Repairer Course, Air Assault School, AH-64 Helicopter Repairer Course, OH-58 Observation Helicopter Repairer Course, Primary Leadership Development Course, Battle Skills Course, Aviation Accident Prevention Course, Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Army Maintenance Management Course, First Sergeant Course, and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy.

SGM Sullivan's deployments include: Operation Southern Watch, Task Force 151 Aviation, Kuwait, 1999-2000; Operation Enduring Freedom, KFOR5A, Kosovo 2003-2004 and Operation Iraq Freedom, Iraq, 2005.

SGM Sullivan's awards include the Master Aircraft Crewman Badge, Air Assault Badge, Meritorious Service Medal w/ 3 OLC, Army Commendation Badge w/ 3 OLC, Army Achievement Medal w/ 2 OLC, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal w/ 7 OLC, National Defense Service Medal w/ 1 Bronze Star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Balkans NATO Medal, Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Award, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon w/5 Device, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/ Silver Hour Glass, M Device, and Numeral 2 Device, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal and Iraq Campaign Medal w/ Bronze Star.
