Chief Warrant Officer 5 James E. Heck assumed duties as the second Command Chief Warrant Officer for the 94th Army Air and Missile Defense Command (AAMDC) on 1 March 2018.
CW5 Heck began his career in 1985 as a Motor Vehicle Operator, with the 416th Transportation Company, Hunter Army Airfield. He went on to serve as a Patriot Missile Crew Member with A/C, 2-43 ADA in Hanau, Germany and Fort Polk, LA. In 1995 CW5 Heck first assignment as a Warrant Officer was in C Battery, 3-43 ADA, Fort Bliss, TX as the Battery Maintenance Technician, Chief's battery was accredited for developing the first Minimum Engagement Package (MEP) for the Patriot Missile System on a short notice deployment to Bahrain. Chief Heck's Battery was the first Patriot Battery to pass the Fort Bliss installation Maintenance Supply Inspection Team (MSIT) and awarded the Army Award for Maintenance Excellence (AAME Award). Chief Heck was than assigned to B Battery, 1-43 ADA, Suwon, Korea. He served as the Battalion Readiness Officer for 3-43 ADA, the Brigade Support Operations Officer, 11th ADA BDE, and the TRADOC Capabilities Manager (TCM) at Fort Bliss, TX. Chief Heck was the action officer responsible for the management of the Grow the Army initiative for the Patriot Missile System of two additional Battalions and Pure Fleeting the Patriot System to PAC-3. He served as the Patriot System Technician G4, 94th AAMDC at Fort Shafter, HI, and in his most recent assignment as the Branch Missile Maintenance Officer assigned to the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) Redstone Arsenal, AL. CW5 Heck's combat tours include Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
CW5 Heck military education includes the Motor Transportation Operator Advanced Individual Training Course, the Primary Leader Development Course, the Patriot Launcher Crew Member Advanced Individual Training Course, the Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course, the Warrant Officer Candidate School, the Warrant Officer Basic, the Warrant Officer Advanced Course, the Warrant Officer Staff Course, the Support Operations Course, and the Warrant Officer Senior Service Education Course.
CW5 Heck's awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Army Achievement Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters.
CW5 Heck has been married for 32 years to Mrs. Billie Heck and have two daughters and two grandchildren.
